184- The Time of Wearing the Tefillin [Phylacteries]

The time for wearing Tefillin is from the time he begins to see his friend in his four cubits. What does this imply to us in the work? His friend is the Creator, as it is written, “Your friend and the friend of your father, do not leave,” “For the sake of my brothers and friends.” “Four cubits” are man, who is regarded as “four cubits.” If he sees and feels the presence of the Creator within his four cubits, this is called “a day.”

At that time, it is considered that he is wearing Tefillin, as it is written, “And all the peoples of the earth shall see,” for then there is seeing and he is rewarded with Tefillin, when he becomes Tafel [of no importance] before the Creator.
