What is a Soul?

Q: What is that spiritual object called a “soul”?

A: The Zohar writes about the relationships between all five Partzufim of the world of Atzilut, which is the world that governs reality. It says: “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother” (Genesis 2, 24), meaning the soul will become independent from its mother and father, attain completeness and independent coupling with Malchut, to unite with the Creator, and create new Partzufim – corrected souls.

A soul is the Partzuf of Malchut of the world of Atzilut. Zeir Anpin, the Creator, is her husband. The Partzuf of Abba VeImaHochma and Bina – provide the soul with everything it needs.
