303- Delight Them with a Complete Building – 2

13 Heshvan, Tav-Shin-Lamed-Gimel, October 21, 1972, after Shabbat

“Delight them with a complete building; brighten them up with the light of Your face” (Shabbat [Sabbath] songs).

We need to understand what is a “complete building” and what is an “incomplete building.” The thing is that in everything that one does, he wants that through his work he will have a complete building in which to live.

There is a building where the person himself will live, and this is called an “incomplete building” because a person is regarded as deficient. Therefore, the building is named after the person, and naturally, it is regarded as an incomplete building.

But if a person wants his work to yield a building for the Creator, that the Creator will live there, this is called a “complete building,” since the Creator is complete. Hence, the building is named after Him, and is therefore called a “complete building,” as it is written, “And let them make Me a Temple and I will dwell in the midst of them.”

“Delight them” means that when a person decides that it is not worthwhile to work for himself, meaning to build a construction for himself, and begins to build for the sake of the Creator, it is considered that “He has left the general public, but has not yet arrived.”

This is so because when he wants to work Lishma [for Her sake], the body comes and asks, “What is this work for you?” At that time, he has no joy because the body objects to him and tells him that he should not exclude himself from the public, since all of the public engages only in their own buildings, meaning that man will have a reward for his work.

Hence, we say, “Delight them” when they engage in a “complete building,” where by the Creator imparts upon them joy, which is a joy of Mitzva [commandment], which is the light of faith, called “Brighten them up with the light of Your face,” they will be able to complete their work.
