When one works in order to receive and satisfy his own lack, meaning his femaleness, a person is called \u201cwoman.\u201d When he acts in order to bestow, he is called a \u201cman.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n It is known that man is but a desire to receive. The order of the beginning of the work is that we start with the will to receive, which is called Lo<\/em> Lishma<\/em> [not for Her sake], and afterward we come to Lishma<\/em> [for Her sake].<\/p>\n\n\n\n Therefore, the order, \u201cThus you shall say to the house of Jacob,\u201d are the women. \u201cTell them the matters in general,\u201d meaning the beginning of the work, when He forbade them to say that we must work Lishma<\/em> because a person cannot begin with Lishma<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Afterward, \u201cand tell the sons of Israel\u201d are the men, who can already work Lishma<\/em>, meaning to bestow. \u201cTell them the precisions of the matters, for they can listen,\u201d meaning that they can already hear about Lishma<\/em> and should already be meticulous that everything will be only Lishma<\/em>.
