Concerning \u201cdust,\u201d it is when one is under the governance of the will to receive, which is regarded as \u201cdust.\u201d Adam HaRishon<\/em> was born with this quality, but he was \u201cdust off the earth.\u201d It is explained in the Sulam<\/em> [Ladder commentary on The Zohar<\/em>] that \u201cearth\u201d means Bina<\/em>, which is the quality of bestowal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When he corrupted the quality of bestowal, he fell back into being dust. It is called \u201cdust\u201d because the Tzimtzum<\/em> [restriction] took place there, and no abundance of Kedusha<\/em> [holiness] is drawn in there. This is why we taste there only the taste of dust in Torah and Mitzvot<\/em> [commandments].<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hence, the correction is to take upon himself once more the quality of bestowal. However, it is not within man\u2019s power to do so, as it is against his nature. For this reason, we say, \u201cHear, O Lord, and pardon me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPardoning\u201d means as our sages said, \u201cAlthough he is unworthy or deserving,\u201d which is called \u201cAnd I will pardon that which I will pardon.\u201d That is, we ask the Creator to give us this power although we cannot make this power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is the meaning of the verse, \u201cLord, be my helper,\u201d as our sages said, \u201cWere it not for the help of the Creator, he would not overcome it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n And all we can give is prayer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" \u201cWhat profit is there in my blood if I go down to the pit?
