Building the Temple"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>March 7, 1962<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRabbi Shimon Ben Elazar says, \u2018If children tell you \u2018Build!\u2019 and elders tell you \u2018Break!\u2019 heed the elders and do not heed the children, for children\u2019s building is breaking, and elder\u2019s breaking is building, and the sign of the matter is Rehoboam, son of Solomon\u2019\u201d (<em>Nedarim<\/em>&nbsp;40a).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RASHI interprets that if youths tell you, \u201cBuild the Temple,\u201d and elders tell you, \u201cBreak and do not build,\u201d the sign of the matter is Rehoboam\u2026 and the Temple was ruined over that advice. But the Torah did not interpret about the Temple, and there is a Braita that interprets \u201cTemple\u201d differently, and see MAHARSHA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We should interpret that the elders say that we must break all the building of&nbsp;<em>Kedusha<\/em>&nbsp;[holiness] that a person built in his youth, for otherwise it is impossible to build the Temple.
