The Merit of the Bride"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u201cThe reward of the bride\u2014pressure\u201d (<em>Berachot<\/em>&nbsp;7). A \u201cbride\u201d means faith, and all the benefit is that when a person feels pressure in Torah and&nbsp;<em>Mitzvot<\/em>&nbsp;[commandments], he has a place to accept faith above reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe reward for hearing\u2014understanding.\u201d The reward of the Torah, called \u201chearing,\u201d is specifically knowledge and not faith, since when one learns Torah but does not understand what is written in it, this is called&nbsp;<em>Mitzva<\/em>&nbsp;[commandment] and not \u201cTorah.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe reward for a house of mourning\u2014silence.\u201d Where there is grief, the benefit is that one can justify Providence and say, \u201cSilence, such was My thought.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe reward for fasting\u2014almsgiving.\u201d But Shmuel says that one who fasts is called \u201ca sinner,\u201d and we should interpret that because the purpose of creation is to do good to His creations, it follows that he does the opposite of the goal. Therefore, he is called \u201ca sinner.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, when one gives almsgiving, it shows that now he is engaging in fear of heaven, called \u201cfaith.\u201d This is as it is written, \u201cAnd he believed in the Lord and considered for him as&nbsp;<em>Tzedakah<\/em>&nbsp;[righteousness\/charity].\u201d At that time, he knows about himself that this is not wholeness and he must be rewarded with the Torah, for then he receives the light concealed in the Torah, which is the purpose.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cThe reward of the bride\u2014pressure\u201d (Berachot&nbsp;7).
