A Lot Is an Awakening from Above"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I heard on&nbsp;<em>Terumah<\/em>&nbsp;4, February 10, 1943<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A lot is an awakening from above, when the lower one does not assist in anything. This is the meaning of \u201ccast a pur,\u201d \u201cthe lot.\u201d Haman was complaining and said, \u201cneither do they keep the king\u2019s laws.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This means that enslavement begins for the worker in a state of&nbsp;<em>Lo Lishma<\/em>&nbsp;[not for Her sake], meaning for self-reception. Hence, why were they given the Torah, because afterward they are granted&nbsp;<em>Lishma<\/em>&nbsp;[for Her sake] and they are given the lights and the upper attainments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then comes the complainant and asks, \u201cWhy are they given these sublime things for which they did not work or hope, but their every thought and goal were only over matters that concern their own needs, called&nbsp;<em>Lo Lishma<\/em>?\u201d This is the meaning of \u201cThe wicked will prepare and the righteous will wear.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This means that previously he was working in a state of wicked, meaning&nbsp;<em>Lo Lishma<\/em>, but for the receiver. Afterward, he was rewarded with&nbsp;<em>Lishma<\/em>, meaning that all the servitude enters the domain of&nbsp;<em>Kedusha<\/em>&nbsp;[holiness], meaning everything is to bestow. This is the meaning of \u201cthe righteous will wear.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the meaning of&nbsp;<em>Purim<\/em>&nbsp;as&nbsp;<em>Yom Kippurim<\/em>&nbsp;[Day of Atonement].&nbsp;<em>Purim<\/em>&nbsp;is an awakening from above, and&nbsp;<em>Yom Kippurim<\/em>&nbsp;is an awakening from below, meaning through repentance.
