Concerning \u201cYou have chosen us,\u201d there is an explanation to the question: Our sages said that the Creator wooed all the nations of the world but they would not receive it. Only the people of Israel said, \u201cWe will do and we will hear.\u201d Thus, why do we say, \u201cYou have chosen us\u201d?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We should interpret this in the work. It is known that man is a small world. For this reason, he himself consists of the children of Seir and the children of Paran. But only the qualities in man that say, \u201cWe will do and we will hear,\u201d only to them the Creator chose to give the Torah, while to the rest of the desires in man, to them the Torah was not given.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the meaning of the prohibition to teach Torah to idol-worshippers, referring to the nations of the world within the person himself; they are forbidden to learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Baal HaSulam explained that wherever our sages said \u201cforbidden,\u201d it means \u201cimpossible.\u201d That is, because \u201cthe Torah exists only in one who puts himself to death over it,\u201d meaning cancels his self and wants to annul before the Creator, then the Creator gives him the Torah as a gift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hence, one should know that the Creator chose only the quality of Israel within man. It was only about this quality that it was said, \u201cYou have loved us and wanted us.\u201d Therefore, when one says, \u201cYou have chosen us,\u201d he must respect and appreciate the quality of Israel in him, and annul the rest of the desires of the nations of the world of which he is comprised.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
