The Tree from which\u00a0Adam HaRishon\u00a0Ate Was Wheat"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>January 31, 1972<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRabbi Yehuda said, \u2018The tree from which&nbsp;<em>Adam HaRishon<\/em>&nbsp;ate was wheat, for the infant does not call out \u2018Father and Mother\u2019 before it tastes the taste of grain\u201d (Sanhedrin 70b).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We should ask, 1) Since there are five kinds of grain, where is the proof that it is wheat? 2) If you say that we know that it is grain, meaning wheat, since precisely when the infant tastes the taste of wheat, it can call out \u201cFather and Mother,\u201d we must understand why specifically when it tastes the taste of wheat it knows, and when it tastes another kind, it does not know how to call out \u201cFather and Mother.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRabbi Yehuda said in the name of Rabbi Akiva, \u2018Why did the Torah say, \u2018Bring&nbsp;<em>Omer<\/em>&nbsp;[sheaf of wheat] on Passover? So that the crop in the fields will be blessed for you. And why did the Torah say \u2018Bring two loaves of bread\u2019 on&nbsp;<em>Shavuot<\/em>&nbsp;[Feast of Weeks]? It is because&nbsp;<em>Shavuot<\/em>&nbsp;is the time of the fruits of the tree.\u2019 The Creator said, \u2018Bring two loaves of bread before Me on&nbsp;<em>Shavuot<\/em>&nbsp;so that the fruits of the tree will be blessed for you\u2019\u2019\u201d (<em>Rosh<\/em>&nbsp;<em>Hashanah<\/em>&nbsp;16).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is known that there are two degrees: There is a \u201cfield\u201d that is \u201ca field that the Lord has blessed,\u201d and there is \u201ca tree of the field.\u201d Man is called \u201ca tree of the field,\u201d as it is written, \u201cFor man is a tree of the field.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A \u201cfield\u201d is called&nbsp;<em>Malchut<\/em>, a beast,&nbsp;<em>Gematria<\/em>&nbsp;<em>BON<\/em>, for the number of the name&nbsp;<em>BON<\/em>&nbsp;implies animal food.
