Gopher Wood"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>October 1981<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMake for yourself an ark of gopher wood, and cover with pitch inside and out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The flood means \u201cevil water.\u201d When the \u201cWho\u201d question comes to a person, which is Pharaoh\u2019s question, \u201cWho is the Lord that I should obey His voice?\u201d and also the wicked one\u2019s question, \u201cWhat is this work for you?\u201d The&nbsp;<em>Mayim<\/em>&nbsp;[water], which is the flood, is made of those two\u2014the&nbsp;<em>Mi<\/em>&nbsp;[Who] and the&nbsp;<em>Ma<\/em>&nbsp;[What]. By this, the whole world that a person has in&nbsp;<em>Kedusha<\/em>&nbsp;[holiness] was obliterated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The advice for this is to go into the ark, for the&nbsp;<em>Teiva<\/em>&nbsp;[ark] has the letters of&nbsp;<em>Bait<\/em>&nbsp;[home] (as it is written in the&nbsp;<em>Sulam<\/em>&nbsp;[Ladder commentary on&nbsp;<em>The Zohar<\/em>]), since \u201chome\u201d means wisdom, as it is written, \u201cIn wisdom shall a house be built.\u201d The opposite of \u201chome\u201d is an \u201cark,\u201d which is&nbsp;<em>Hassadim<\/em>&nbsp;[mercies], which is faith above reason, as in \u201cfor he desires mercy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the meaning of \u201cCover with pitch inside and out,\u201d since there must be the light of faith there. Hence, it must be covered with pitch from inside and out, and then it is a place in which to install the light of faith, since then he needs the light of faith. When one is on the path of faith, there is no room for the \u201cWho\u201d and \u201cWhat\u201d questions.
