And Judah Approached Him \u2013 1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VaYigash<\/em>, January 1982<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is interpreted in the&nbsp;<em>Sulam<\/em>&nbsp;[Ladder commentary on&nbsp;<em>The Zohar<\/em>], \u201c\u2018And Judah approached him,\u2019 for Judah is the&nbsp;<em>Nukva<\/em>&nbsp;[female] meaning a prayer, and Joseph is redemption.\u201d The text tells us that they approached each other for a&nbsp;<em>Zivug<\/em>&nbsp;[coupling] until, \u201cAnd Joseph could not withhold himself\u201d and revealed to them those&nbsp;<em>Mochin<\/em>&nbsp;[lights].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In regard to the above-said, we can interpret the verse, \u201cAnd Judah approached him and said, \u2018My lord, may your servant please speak a word in my lord\u2019s ears, and do not be angry with your servant, for you are as Pharaoh.\u2019\u201d Here he brings an order by which to approach a prayer and ask the Creator to save him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When a person wants to walk on the path of truth, and truth is called&nbsp;<em>Lishma<\/em>&nbsp;[for Her sake]\u2014as Maimonides says in&nbsp;<em>Hilchot Teshuva<\/em>\u2014he sees that he is far from the truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A prayer is&nbsp;<em>Malchut<\/em>, who is called Judah, who was a&nbsp;<em>Melech<\/em>&nbsp;[king], for Israel are sons of kings, the sons of&nbsp;<em>Malchut<\/em>.&nbsp;<em>Malchut<\/em>&nbsp;is called \u201cthe assembly of Israel,\u201d the collection of the soul of Israel. Hence, each one is called&nbsp;<em>Malchut<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When he comes to pray to the Creator to bring him closer to His true work, which is called \u201ctruth,\u201d he says to the Creator, \u201cOur sages said, \u2018I have created the evil inclination; I have created the Torah as a spice.\u2019 Thus, what I ask of You, to give me the light of Torah, is not because I need the&nbsp;<em>Gadlut<\/em>&nbsp;[greatness\/adulthood] of the&nbsp;<em>Mochin<\/em>. Therefore, \u2018Do not be angry with your servant,\u2019 since all the light of Torah that I seek is not luxuries, but a necessity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou are as Pharaoh,\u201d since there are two kings in the world: 1) The King of all Kings, 2) An old and foolish king, called \u201cWicked Pharaoh.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since \u201cYou are as Pharaoh,\u201d meaning I do not feel any greatness in the Creator and do not have importance of&nbsp;<em>Kedusha<\/em>&nbsp;[holiness], but it has the same taste and value as Pharaoh, and even at the most important time, when both are of the same value and I must determine whether for&nbsp;<em>Kedusha<\/em>&nbsp;or for&nbsp;<em>Tuma\u2019a<\/em>&nbsp;[impurity]\u2014and this is called \u201cfor You are as Pharaoh\u201d\u2014when they are of equal weight, this is the most important time. Sometimes, Pharaoh is more important than the&nbsp;<em>Kedusha<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hence, when he asks the Creator to show him the light of His Torah, it is a necessity and not because he wants&nbsp;<em>Gadlut<\/em>. This is why he said, \u201cDo not be angry with your servant.\u201d This is the meaning of \u201cAnd Judah approached him,\u201d for approaching is only a prayer, which is&nbsp;<em>Malchut<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joseph is redemption, as in \u201cJoseph could not withhold himself,\u201d and revealed to him the&nbsp;<em>Mochin<\/em>.
