All the Peoples of the Earth Shall See"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Elul<\/em>, August<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAll the peoples of the earth shall see that the name of the Lord is called upon you and they will fear you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rabbi Eliezer the Great says \u201cthese are the head&nbsp;<em>Tefillin<\/em>&nbsp;[phylacteries] (<em>Minchot<\/em>&nbsp;35b).\u201d The&nbsp;<em>Tosfot<\/em>&nbsp;interpret that because the head&nbsp;<em>Tefillin<\/em>&nbsp;are more visible than the hand, \u201csee\u201d pertains to them. Conversely, the hand&nbsp;<em>Tefillin<\/em>&nbsp;should be covered, as was said \u201ca token on your hand, for you as a token and not for others as a token.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also there, the&nbsp;<em>Shin<\/em>&nbsp;[Hebrew letter (<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"blob:https:\/\/staging.kabbalah.info\/db32389e-513e-4ee1-96a4-73b8139b0126\" alt=\"D:\\Chaim\\Books\\Eng_Books\\Zohar_New\\Links\\Shin.jpg\">)] of the&nbsp;<em>Tefillin<\/em>, a law given to Moses at Sinai. He writes in the&nbsp;<em>Tosfot<\/em>&nbsp;that in the [book]&nbsp;<em>Shimusha Raba<\/em>, in&nbsp;<em>Tefillin<\/em>&nbsp;there are three heads in the&nbsp;<em>Shin<\/em>&nbsp;of the right [side], and four heads on the left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Placing on the left, from where does it come? Rav Ashi said, \u201cfrom Your hand,\u201d written with an unpronounced&nbsp;<em>Hey<\/em>. RASHI interpreted that when it is written with an unpronounced&nbsp;<em>Hey<\/em>, it implies a female form. From this you learn that when he says \u201cleft,\u201d she is as powerless as a female. Another explanation: \u201cyour hand,\u201d the weak hand, with him without strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We should understand the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1) Why is the head [<em>Tefillin<\/em>] exposed and that of the hand concealed?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2) Why are there three heads on the right, and four heads on the left?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3) We do not see that uneducated people fear the head&nbsp;<em>Tefillin<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our sages said, \u201cRabbi Helbo said, \u2018Rav Huna said, \u2018Anyone who has fear of heaven, his words are heard, as was said, \u2018In the end, after all is heard, fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man\u2019\u2019\u2019\u201d (<em>Berachot<\/em>&nbsp;6b).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We should ask the following: 1) We see that although there were many sages and righteous in Israel whose words were not heard. 2) What evidence do the words \u201cIn the end\u201d provide that one who fears heaven, his words are heard?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We should interpret this in the work, that the verse pertains to the individual himself. That is, if a person sees that the organs disobey him, and although he engages in Torah and work, he is still standing still and is not moving whatsoever toward being rewarded with spirituality, our sages give him advice and say that the main reason is that he lacks fear of heaven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other words, to the extent that he has fear of heaven, to that same extent his organs will submit to him. This is implied in the words, \u201cIn the end,\u201d since the body is called \u201cend\u201d and \u201cboundary,\u201d as our sages said, \u201cMan\u2019s end is to die,\u201d whereas the soul in the body is eternal and unlimited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the meaning of the words, \u201cIn the end, after all is heard.\u201d One way or the other, the body will obey the advice of the good inclination. \u201cFear God,\u201d for you lack nothing but fear of heaven. At that time, you will be rewarded with \u201cKeep His commandments,\u201d meaning you will be able to observe His commandments, \u201cfor this is the whole of man.\u201d What is \u201cfor this is the whole of man\u201d? Rabbi Elazar said, \u201cThe Creator said, \u2018The whole world was created only for this.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Creation is called \u201cexistence from absence.\u201d Fear of heaven is a matter of choice, and there is choice only where there is darkness, which is the matter of concealment. Otherwise, there is no such thing as choice. Creation is darkness, since before the world was created, it was all light, for \u201cYou are until the world was created.\u201d This is the meaning of \u201cthe whole world,\u201d meaning that the concealment was done only so as to have room for choice, called \u201cfor this.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Concerning the hand&nbsp;<em>Tefillin<\/em>&nbsp;being covered and the head&nbsp;<em>Tefillin<\/em>&nbsp;being exposed, I heard from Baal HaSulam that the head&nbsp;<em>Tefillin<\/em>&nbsp;imply Torah, and the one on the hand implies faith. Accordingly, we should interpret that the head&nbsp;<em>Tefillin<\/em>, which are regarded as Torah, the Torah should be revealed, which is \u201cseeing,\u201d called \u201cthe eyes of the congregation,\u201d for seeing means&nbsp;<em>Hochma<\/em>&nbsp;[wisdom].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is the opposite with faith, which means covered, for precisely during the concealment is there the matter of faith, for then it can be said that although he does not understand or see the truth of the matter, he still believes. Hence, the hand&nbsp;<em>Tefillin<\/em>&nbsp;must be covered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This also explains why the hand&nbsp;<em>Tefillin<\/em>&nbsp;should be put on the left hand. Rav Ashi brings evidence from \u201cyour hand,\u201d which is the weak hand, which means attainment, from the words, \u201cIf a hand attains.\u201d Attainment is female, for \u201chis strength has become as weak as a female,\u201d since it is a matter of faith and not of knowledge. The Torah is to the contrary: specifically knowledge. Otherwise, it is not considered Torah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Concerning the&nbsp;<em>Shin<\/em>&nbsp;having to be with three heads on the right, and four heads on the left, the ARI says that&nbsp;<em>Mochin<\/em>, which is the upper abundance, bestows upon the four&nbsp;<em>Sefirot<\/em>&nbsp;called&nbsp;<em>Hochma<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Bina<\/em>, and&nbsp;<em>Daat<\/em>, which contains two&nbsp;<em>Sefirot<\/em>&nbsp;called&nbsp;<em>Hesed<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Gevura<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Hochma<\/em>&nbsp;is the abundance itself, which is bestowed upon the lower ones.&nbsp;<em>Bina<\/em>&nbsp;is called \u201cthe forces that the lower ones want to impart upward.\u201d When there is an awakening to extend&nbsp;<em>Hochma<\/em>, the awakening is called&nbsp;<em>Hesed<\/em>, which is the carrier for the extension of&nbsp;<em>Hochma<\/em>. At the same time, we must place a&nbsp;<em>Masach<\/em>&nbsp;[screen], called \u201cforces,\u201d so the intention will be only to bestow contentment upon his Maker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes the desire to extend abundance already exists, but the power of the&nbsp;<em>Masach<\/em>&nbsp;on the abundance has not been completed. This is considered that&nbsp;<em>Hesed<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Gevura<\/em>&nbsp;are not united. Hence, this is called \u201cthe&nbsp;<em>Shin<\/em>&nbsp;of the four heads.\u201d When the power of the&nbsp;<em>Masach<\/em>&nbsp;is suitable for the abundance, it is called \u201c<em>Hesed<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Gevura<\/em>&nbsp;united.\u201d This is why it is called a \u201c<em>Shin<\/em>&nbsp;of three heads.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, there is the matter of the&nbsp;<em>Hochma<\/em>&nbsp;not being able to shine due to the amount of the abundance. At that time, there is a correction that the&nbsp;<em>Hochma<\/em>&nbsp;will not shine, and then the&nbsp;<em>Hesed<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Gevura<\/em>&nbsp;are disunited. Hence, only&nbsp;<em>Hassadim<\/em>&nbsp;illuminate there.
