You Shall Tithe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>August 13, 1977<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou shall tithe.\u201d It was interpreted, \u201cGive tithing so you will grow rich.\u201d But how did our sages explain the commandment in the verse in a way that is&nbsp;<em>Lo Lishma<\/em>&nbsp;[not for Her sake], meaning that the intention is that he would give charity so as to get? It should be said, as was said, \u201cWe will do and we will hear,\u201d meaning that through the act they will achieve the state of \u201cWe will hear,\u201d meaning the act affects the intention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It follows that when a person gives tithing, meaning an act of giving, he should aim \u201cto get rich,\u201d meaning to be rewarded with a desire and yearning to give. That is, as the act is giving and not receiving, so he will be rewarded with the thought and intention being only to give and to receive anything in return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We should also say, \u201cYou shall tithe,\u201d meaning \u201ctithe\u201d on the action, where if he performs an act of giving, \u201cYou will get rich,\u201d for then he will be rewarded with his intention also being that of bestowal and not that of reception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And what happens afterwards? \u201cSo you will grow rich,\u201d since it is impossible to receive from the Creator the delight and pleasure, called \u201cwealth,\u201d before one has equivalence of form.
