{"id":12764,"date":"2025-12-19T10:51:13","date_gmt":"2025-12-19T10:51:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.kabbalah.info\/?post_type=book&#038;p=12764"},"modified":"2025-12-19T11:03:31","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T11:03:31","slug":"the-seagull-who-wanted-to-be-a-turtle","status":"publish","type":"book","link":"https:\/\/www.kabbalah.info\/en\/the-seagull-who-wanted-to-be-a-turtle\/","title":{"rendered":"The Seagull Who Wanted to Be a Turtle"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-ast-global-color-0-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-9ada7ef06d15333d432609827d0dc090\"><em>By Lydia Hora<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:8px\"><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"230\" height=\"254\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.kabbalah.info\/app\/uploads\/2025\/12\/image-13.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12765\" style=\"width:266px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One bright summer day, a family of seagulls flew across the sunny sky for a picnic at the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When they arrived, Father Seagull announced, \u201cI will fly over the waves to find fish for our lunch,\u201d and he disappeared over the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mother Seagull gathered the flock of seagulls together. \u201cWe will practice our flying and collect food that has been left on the beach,\u201d she told them. \u201cWe can eat it for lunch with the fish that your father will catch.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Happily, the flock of seagulls set off to practice their flying skills, finding scraps of food on the beach and dropping it from high in the sky so they could swoop down and catch it again. But one little seagull was distracted by the waves, and he stopped to look at the ocean. As he watched the waves, he saw a green sea turtle climbing out of the water and onto the soft, sandy beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The turtle looked up at the seagull perched on the sand. \u201cDid you fly here?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYes,\u201d answered the seagull. \u201cMy family flew here for lunch. I love the beach, but I would rather swim in the ocean. Do you like to swim?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:8px\"><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kabbalah.info\/eng\/content\/view\/clean\/86913\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kabbalah.info\/var\/kbl\/storage\/images\/kabbalah\/tyqyyh_zmnyt\/english_library_work_folder\/the_baobab_that_opened_its_heart\/the_seagull_who_wanted_to_be_a_turtle\/the_seagull_who_wanted_to_be_a_turtle_drawings\/the_seagull_who_wanted_to_be_a_turtle_drawing_2\/1488670-1-eng-GB\/the_seagull_who_wanted_to_be_a_turtle_drawing_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:323px;height:auto\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:13px\"><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI swim all day long, but I wish I could fly like you,\u201d the turtle replied. \u201cI love to sit on the beach watching the seagulls fly high in the sky. I wish I could be a seagull.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seagull looked at the wet green turtle with sand in his toes. \u201cI\u2019d rather be a turtle,\u201d he said. \u201cFlying is not that great. I\u2019d much rather swim.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So it was that the green turtle and the young seagull spent the entire morning sharing stories of flying and swimming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suddenly, the seagull heard his mother calling him. It was time for lunch. He flew back to his family and enjoyed a delicious lunch of fish and popcorn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During lunch, the little seagull told his father all about the green turtle. \u201cI wish that I were a turtle so that I could swim all day,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His father looked at him in surprise. \u201cBut seagulls fly and clean the scraps that are left on the beach. It\u2019s a very important job, you know. Without seagulls, trash would be rotting all over the beach!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just then, the seagull family heard someone calling for help. A hermit crab was crawling up and down the beach looking for her son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHelp! Please help!\u201d she cried. \u201cPlease, can you help me find my son? His shell was too small so he set out to look for a larger one. I haven\u2019t seen him since this morning when he squeezed out of his old shell.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy family will be happy to fly over the beach to look for him,\u201d replied Father Seagull kindly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As soon as the little seagull heard this, he flew high up in the sky and began looking for the lost hermit crab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the green turtle heard about the lost hermit crab, he wanted to help, too. \u201cHermit crabs eat sea grass just like me!\u201d he shouted from the water. \u201cI will swim along the shore and search all my favorite rock pools to help you find your son.\u201d The friends worked together to find the missing hermit crab. Finally, they found him resting inside his beautiful new shell, and rushed over to greet him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy legs were very tired carrying this big shell,\u201d said the hermit crab. \u201cI was just looking for a nice, quiet place to rest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI could see your big shell sparkling on the clean sand from way up high!\u201d said the seagull.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou must be hungry!\u201d the turtle exclaimed. \u201cI\u2019ve been keeping the sea grass short and healthy. Please have some, it\u2019s delicious!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mother hermit crab was so happy that she scrambled over to her son and hugged him. \u201cThank you both for helping me find my son!\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The friends were both very happy that they could help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNow I understand why it\u2019s good to be a seagull,\u201d said the young seagull. \u201cNot only can I keep the beach clean, but I can also fly up high to help others.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnd,\u201d said the turtle, \u201cNow I understand that it\u2019s good to be a turtle, because it\u2019s important to keep the sea grass healthy, and I can swim to help others,\u201d said the turtle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At last, the friends had discovered that it\u2019s best when each gives to others the thing that makes him special, because this makes everyone happier!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:8px\"><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter is-resized\"><a
