There Is\u00a0Shechina\u00a0in the Wall"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>August 3, 1963<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRabbi Yosi started, \u2018Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord\u2019 \u2026 it is as it is written, \u2018Those who honor Me I shall honor, and those who despise Me shall be despised.\u2019 One who looks at the&nbsp;<em>Shechina<\/em>&nbsp;[Divinity] while praying, how can one look at the&nbsp;<em>Shechina<\/em>? Rather, it is to know that the&nbsp;<em>Shechina<\/em>&nbsp;is indeed standing before him during his prayer, so he must not open his eyes, as it is written, \u2018Hezekiah turned his face to the wall.\u2019 For this reason, nothing must part between a man and the wall\u201d (<em>The Zohar<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>VaEtchanan<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We should ask, 1) Why the association between \u201cHezekiah turned\u201d and \u201cI entreated\u201d? 2) What is the answer to the question, \u201cHow can one look at the&nbsp;<em>Shechina<\/em>?\u201d when he says \u201cit is to know that the&nbsp;<em>Shechina<\/em>&nbsp;is indeed standing before him\u201d? 3) What does it mean that the&nbsp;<em>Shechina<\/em>&nbsp;is there, namely in the wall? Is the&nbsp;<em>Shechina<\/em>&nbsp;specifically in the wall? After all, \u201cThe whole earth is full of His glory.\u201d Also, what does it mean that there should be no partition?
