The Written Torah and the Oral Torah \u2013 1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I heard on&nbsp;<em>Mishpatim<\/em>, 1943<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The written Torah is considered \u201cawakening from above,\u201d and the oral Torah is an awakening from below. Together, they are called \u201cSix years he shall serve, and in the seventh he shall go out free.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is so because the essence of the work is specifically where there is resistance. And it is called&nbsp;<em>Alma<\/em>&nbsp;[Aramaic: world] from the word&nbsp;<em>He\u2019elem<\/em>[concealment]. Then, when there is concealment, there is resistance, and then there is room for work. This is the meaning of the words of our sages, \u201cSix thousand years the world, and one ruined.\u201d This means that the concealment will be ruined and there will be no more work.
