The Torah Is Called\u00a0Tushiya\u00a0\u2013 1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Sanhedrin 26b: \u201cRabbi Hanin said, \u2018Why is her name&nbsp;<em>Tushiya<\/em>? It is because she&nbsp;<em>Mateshet<\/em>&nbsp;[wanes\/exhausts] a person\u2019s strength.\u2019 Another interpretation:&nbsp;<em>Tushiya<\/em>, since she was given in secret because of Satan.\u201d RASHI interpreted that he slanders and says, \u201cLet it be given to the upper ones and let the tablets not be given to Moses.\u201d \u201cAnother interpretation:&nbsp;<em>Tushiya<\/em>, matters of&nbsp;<em>Tohu<\/em>&nbsp;[formlessness], on which the world is based.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RASHI interpreted, \u201cMatters of&nbsp;<em>Tohu<\/em>, speech, and aimless reading, and any speaking without real substance, like that&nbsp;<em>Tohu<\/em>. And yet, the world is based on them. The acronym is&nbsp;<em>Tav<\/em>&#8211;<em>Yod<\/em>&#8211;<em>Vav<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Tohu<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Shiyha<\/em>\u2014based.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ulla said, \u201cA thought helps even words of Torah, as was said, \u2018revokes the thoughts of the cunning, and they will not make it&nbsp;<em>Tushiya<\/em>.\u2019\u201d RASHI interpreted\u2014helps, causes them to forget what they learned. \u201cRevokes the thoughts of the cunning\u201d: He gives them nourishment and cancels the thoughts in their hearts that did not let them perform&nbsp;<em>Tushiya<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another interpretation: A thought that a person calculates\u2014I will get this and that\u2014helps to arrest the matter, so his thought does not come true, even for words of Torah, like one who says, \u201cUntil this and that day, I will learn this and that many treatises in the Talmud.\u201d \u201cRevokes the thoughts of the wicked,\u201d meaning his thoughts do not succeed even for&nbsp;<em>Tushiya<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Tosfot<\/em>: RIBA interpreted: Man\u2019s concern for his nourishment causes him to forget all his other thoughts, even thoughts of words of Torah. Some interpret \u201chelps\u201d as \u201clying and will not succeed.\u201d That is, if a person contemplates becoming rich, as well as words of Torah, he will not succeed, but only when he works&nbsp;<em>Lishma<\/em>&nbsp;[for Her sake].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MAHARSHA: We should also say about words of Torah, that what works most is the thought in the heart, and it is not enough to learn it in the mind. Rather, it must be chewed in the mouth, as well, as was said, \u201cBy twisting the lips, it is an act.\u201d This is as it is written, \u201crevokes the thoughts of the cunning.\u201d He who learns Torah only in thought, revokes, and it is forgotten from him. \u201cAnd they will not make it [<em>Tushiya<\/em>],\u201d so the Torah does not become an act, unless by speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Raba said, \u201cIf one engages&nbsp;<em>Lishma<\/em>, it does not help, as was said, \u2018Many are thoughts in a man\u2019s heart, but the counsel of the Lord shall be established.\u2019 A counsel in which there is the counsel of the Creator, this will be established.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sanhedrin 26b: \u201cRabbi Hanin said, \u2018Why is her name&nbsp;Tushiya?
