The Western Candle"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Why does the western candle indicate that the&nbsp;<em>Shechina<\/em>&nbsp;[Divinity] dwells in Israel?&nbsp;<em>Erev<\/em>&nbsp;[evening] means darkness, the opposite of day, for \u201cday\u201d implies seeing, when we see what we are doing. Conversely, evening is called \u201cdarkness,\u201d which means that we do not see what we are doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faith means to believe in the Creator and observe Torah and&nbsp;<em>Mitzvot<\/em>&nbsp;[commandments], when we do not see what we are doing because in corporeal things, when a person does something, he immediately sees the benefit.
