When the Creator Came"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It is written in&nbsp;<em>Midrash Rabbah<\/em>&nbsp;(<em>BaMidbar<\/em>&nbsp;1): \u201cAnother thing: \u2018Why did they say, \u2018My people have descended; we will no longer come to You\u2019 (Jeremiah 2)? What is \u2018descended,\u2019 as it is said, \u2018for he oppresses the whole of the riverbank\u2019\u2019 (1 Kings 5). He was told, \u2018You gave us a Temple but drove out Your&nbsp;<em>Shechina<\/em>&nbsp;[Divinity] from it, and what do you ask of us so we will no longer come to you?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe said to them, \u2018I wish I were in the desert now; where are all the miracles I did for you?\u2019 This is why he says, \u2018Who would give me a lodge in the desert, that I might leave my people,\u2019 where I was glorified, as was said, \u2018Let the desert and its cities raise their voices, courtyards where Kedar dwells, let the inhabitants of rocks sing aloud.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is an allegory about a president who went into a country, and the countryfolk saw him and fled from him. He went into another one, and they fled from him. He went into a desolate city and was greeted and glorified. The president said, \u201cThis is the best city of all the country.
