The View of\u00a0Kedusha"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Our sages said, \u201cI the Lord,\u201d Rabbah said about it, why is it written, \u201cAll the kings of the earth will thank You, Lord, for we heard the sayings of Your mouth\u201d (Psalms 138)? It did not say, \u201cthe saying of Your mouth,\u201d but \u201cthe sayings of Your mouth.\u201d When the Creator said, \u201cI, and you shall not have,\u201d etc., idol-worshippers said, \u201cHe is demanding for His own glory.\u201d When He said, \u201cHonor your father and your mother,\u201d they rethought and admitted the first commandments (<em>Kidushin<\/em>&nbsp;31a).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We should ask what they saw in His saying \u201cHonor,\u201d to the point that it was worthwhile to rethink. By intimation, \u201cyour father\u201d and \u201cyour mother\u201d are&nbsp;<em>Hochma<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Bina<\/em>, as it is written in&nbsp;<em>The Zohar<\/em>. First, they thought that since the whole basis of Judaism is faith above reason, they said that He was demanding for His own glory, meaning that only the lower ones would serve Him above reason, and He would give them nothing in return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faith above reason is called \u201ccomplete bestowal.\u201d When He said \u201cHonor,\u201d it means that man should honor&nbsp;<em>Hochma<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Bina<\/em>, which is the Torah, called&nbsp;<em>Hochma<\/em>&#8211;<em>Bina<\/em>&#8211;<em>Daat<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Daat<\/em>&nbsp;[knowledge] is the quality that connects the two, as in \u201cAnd Adam knew his wife, Eve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We see that there are two manners of&nbsp;<em>Segol<\/em>&nbsp;[a Hebrew punctuation mark]:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1)&nbsp;<em>Segol<\/em>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<em>Nekudot<\/em>, where the connecting line is below [<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"blob:https:\/\/staging.kabbalah.info\/a9e4ead3-6f30-443e-8b33-f3dd27855310\" alt=\"D:\\Chaim\\Books\\Eng_Books\\Zohar_New\\Links\\Segolta.JPG\">]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2)&nbsp;<em>Segol<\/em>&nbsp;of the quality of&nbsp;<em>Taamim<\/em>, where the connected quality is above [<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"blob:https:\/\/staging.kabbalah.info\/0a736c31-fd6d-42a6-86d7-72fa626a8b1f\" alt=\"D:\\Chaim\\Books\\Eng_Books\\Zohar_New\\Links\\Segol.JPG\">]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meaning is that&nbsp;<em>Daat<\/em>&nbsp;means&nbsp;<em>Dvekut<\/em>&nbsp;[adhesion] and connection, which is called \u201cthe giving force,\u201d since man must achieve a degree of bestowal called \u201cequivalence of form,\u201d as in, \u201cAs He is merciful, so you are merciful.\u201d The beginning of the work should be in faith, which is called \u201cI, and you shall not have,\u201d which is above the intellect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is called \u201clearning Torah&nbsp;<em>Lishma<\/em>&nbsp;[for Her sake].\u201d Afterward, one is rewarded with the secrets of Torah being revealed to him, which are called&nbsp;<em>Hochma<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Bina<\/em>, and then he must renew the faith once more. That is, he should not say, \u201cNow I have a basis of&nbsp;<em>Hochma<\/em>&nbsp;and I can serve the Creator because I already have support.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, we must renew the faith once more, so we work even now without any basis.
