The Meaning of Shabbat"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Shabbat [Sabbath] is called&nbsp;<em>Shin<\/em>&#8211;<em>Bat<\/em>&nbsp;(<em>The Zohar<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>VaYakhel<\/em>), where&nbsp;<em>Bat<\/em>&nbsp;[daughter\/girl] means female, which is the quality of reception. When the upper pleasure is revealed and we receive it, this is called \u201cfemale\u201d and \u201cdaughter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is why&nbsp;<em>The Zohar<\/em>&nbsp;says that when the three fathers unite in the daughter, it is Shabbat. The three fathers are interpreted in the&nbsp;<em>Sulam<\/em>&nbsp;[Ladder commentary on&nbsp;<em>The Zohar<\/em>] as three lines by which the light of&nbsp;<em>Hochma<\/em>, called Shabbat, is revealed. This is why it is called&nbsp;<em>Shin-Bat<\/em>, and it is also called \u201cthe pupil of the eye,\u201d for the revelation of&nbsp;<em>Hochma<\/em>&nbsp;is called \u201ceye,\u201d since vision is revealed in the eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is hearing and there is seeing. To hear, one must believe that what the other is saying is true. But with seeing, there is no need to believe anyone because he sees for himself.
