If Any Man of You Brings an Offering \u2013 2"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u201cIf any man of you brings an offering,\u201d specifically \u201cman,\u201d and specifically \u201cfrom you.\u201d \u201cMan,\u201d \u201cYou are called \u2018man\u2019\u201d (<em>Yevamot<\/em>&nbsp;60). \u201cI have found one man out of a thousand. A thousand enter a room, and one comes out to the light\u201d (in the&nbsp;<em>Midrash<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This means that in the whole of Israel, too, not everyone is called \u201cman,\u201d but only one out of a thousand. \u201cMan,\u201d \u201cIn the end, after all is heard, for this is the whole of man.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fear of heaven. This means that there is fear of earthliness, as it is written, \u201cThere is no advantage to man over beast, since all is vanity.\u201d Fear of earthliness is called \u201cthe people of the earth,\u201d meaning that one is afraid that he might not provide for the needs of the body, and fear of heaven means that he is afraid he might not obtain the things that are the needs of heaven, meaning&nbsp;<em>Kedusha<\/em>&nbsp;[holiness],&nbsp;<em>Tahara<\/em>&nbsp;[purity], Torah and&nbsp;<em>Mitzvot<\/em>&nbsp;[commandments], and&nbsp;<em>Dvekut<\/em>&nbsp;[adhesion] with the Creator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The matter of \u201cfear\u201d pertains specifically to something that man craves. To the extent of the intensity of the desire, so is the measure of the fear. That is, if one does not have a great yearning for something, he is not so afraid that he might not obtain it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to achieve such a desire, which pertains to the quality of \u201cman,\u201d one must begin with offerings, meaning to make an offering from the beast to the Creator. This is the meaning of \u201cIf any man of you brings an offering.\u201d That is, \u201cfrom you,\u201d Israel, if someone wants to approach the Creator and be discerned as \u201cman,\u201d \u201cIf any man of you brings an offering,\u201d the order is an offering from the beast to the Creator, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other words, all the needs that pertain to beastliness must be offered to the Creator, and by this one enters a kind of the quality of man, a kind that is related to fear of heaven.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cIf any man of you brings an offering,\u201d specifically \u201cman,\u201d and specifically \u201cfrom you.\u201d \u201cMan,\u201d \u201cYou are called \u2018man\u2019\u201d (Yevamot&nbsp;60).
