Adhere to His Attributes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Rains fall thanks to three things: thanks to the earth, thanks to mercy, and thanks to suffering (<em>Jerusalem Talmud<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Taanit<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We should ask what \u201cthanks to the earth\u201d means. Can the earth choose, that we can say that it has merits for following the path of the Creator?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We should understand this in ethics. \u201cEarth\u201d means the quality of&nbsp;<em>Malchut<\/em>, called \u201cearth,\u201d which is the matter of faith. It is known that there is a discernment of \u201cheaven\u201d and a discernment of \u201cearth,\u201d as it is written, \u201cIn the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.\u201d \u201cHeaven\u201d means the quality of Torah, which is regarded as sublime and high, like the heaven, which is above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Torah belongs to the Creator, for He should give the Torah as a gift to a person. Conversely, faith is called \u201cearth,\u201d since it belongs to man, who is in the earth, as our sages said, \u201cEverything is in the hands of heaven but the fear of heaven.\u201d The matter of faith pertains to man, who should make the choice to take upon himself the burden of the kingdom of heaven during the concealment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Hesed<\/em>&nbsp;[grace\/mercy] comes from the words, \u201cWho is&nbsp;<em>Hassid<\/em>? He who says, \u2018Mine is yours,\u2019\u201d which means bestowal, as our sages said, \u201cAdhere to His attributes, as He is merciful,\u201d etc. Otherwise, it is impossible to be rewarded with&nbsp;<em>Dvekut<\/em>&nbsp;[adhesion].<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rains fall thanks to three things: thanks to the earth, thanks to mercy, and thanks to suffering (Jerusalem Talmud,&nbsp;Taanit).
