475) There are three appointees over Hell: One over bloodshed, one over incest, and one over idol worship. They are called \u201csaboteur,\u201d \u201canger,\u201d and \u201cwrath.\u201d Wrath was flying in the world, and it is written about it, \u201cTurned away My wrath.\u201d He said, \u201cTurned away My wrath from the children of Israel,\u201d and he did not say, \u201cFrom the people,\u201d which would mean the mixed multitude, for it is written, \u201cAnd there fell of the people that day about three thousand men,\u201d meaning from the mixed multitude. But here it is not written, \u201cHas turned away My wrath from the people,\u201d but \u201cFrom the children of Israel,\u201d indicating that He did not turn away the wrath from the mixed multitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
476) \u201cTake from among you a donation for the Lord.\u201d From you, and not from the mixed multitude, for Israel were not called \u201ccongregation\u201d and \u201cconnection\u201d until the mixed multitude were removed from them. While the mixed multitude were mingled among them, it is as though they were not one nation. And therefore, \u201cTake from among you a donation,\u201d and not from another partnership, from the mixed multitude, for I do not wish to share others between Me and you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
477) Moreover, while the mixed multitude were mingled in Israel, it is written, \u201cHer adversaries have become the head.\u201d But once the mixed multitude was removed from Israel, it was written, \u201cTake the heads of all the congregation of the children of Israel.\u201d Moreover, the Creator said, \u201cI wish to dwell with you,\u201d as it is written, \u201cAnd make Me a Temple, that I may dwell among them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
478) Also, when the children of Israel were in exile, it was said about them, \u201cWho detains?\u201d The leaven in the dough. But while the mixed multitude are the heads of Israel, it is as though they have removed the governance of the Creator, and came among the sentences of stars and fortunes. And because of it they yell out and say, \u201cThe Lord our God, other lords besides You have taken us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
479) Pinhas arose before the strong Din<\/em> of Isaac and stood before a breach, meaning that a plague has broken out, as it is written, \u201cAnd Pinhas stood up and wrought judgment, and the plague was stopped.\u201d He did this to protect Israel, and this is why Pinhas and Isaac are of an equal number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 480) Elijah, the beloved one of the upper king, is Pinhas. He saw Mem<\/em> from Mavet<\/em> [death] flying in the air, snatched it, and connected it to the letters Reish<\/em>–Het<\/em>, which is Isaac. He has the number of Pinhas, and with the Mem<\/em>, the combination Reish<\/em>–Mem<\/em>–Het<\/em> [Romach<\/em> (spear)] was completed. Afterward he saw the Vav<\/em> from Mavet<\/em> flying in the firmament. He snatched it and put it in Reish<\/em>–Mem<\/em>–Het<\/em>, completing the combination, Reish<\/em>–Vav<\/em>–Mem<\/em>–Het<\/em> [a different spelling of Romach<\/em>], as it is written, \u201cAnd he took a spear in his hand.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n 481) With what could he snatch those two letters, Mem<\/em>–Vav<\/em>? With two spirits that were kept for him above, and who partook in Pinhas. These are Pnei<\/em> [the face of] Has<\/em> [one who is compassionate]. With those two faces he was compassionate toward Israel so they would not be destroyed by the power of Zimri and Cozbi. \u201cAnd he stabbed them both,\u201d with the two letters Mem<\/em>–Vav<\/em>. This is the meaning of the words, \u201cIn that he was jealous with My jealousy among them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n 482) Why did Pinhas participate in Isaac? Isaac gave himself to be put to death. This is why he connected with Isaac, to be of help to him. It is so because from the side of the two young deer, Abraham and Jacob partook in him. Abraham, who is Hesed<\/em>, partook in the letters Het<\/em>–Samech<\/em> of Pinhas. Jacob is the letters Peh<\/em>–Nun<\/em>–Yod<\/em> of Pinhas, since it is written about him, \u201cWhen he passed Pniel,\u201d with the letters of Pnei El<\/em> [Face of God].<\/p>\n\n\n\n When the world is in plight, and there is a righteous in the world who is jealous for the covenant, the patriarchs connect to him, and because of them Moses said at the time of Israel\u2019s plight, \u201cRemember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel Your servants.\u201d The word Eliyahu [Elijah] begins with the letters Yod<\/em>–Hey<\/em>–Vav<\/em>, which are Abraham, Isaac, Jacob. He was rewarded with the letter Hey<\/em> from the word, HaNavi<\/em> [the prophet], Malchut<\/em>, and this is Elijah the Prophet, and Yod<\/em>–Hey<\/em> Vav<\/em>–Hey<\/em> was completed in him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mem<\/em> from the combination Mavet<\/em> is Dinim<\/em> de<\/em> Dechura<\/em>, which come with the Hochma<\/em>. Vav<\/em> of Mavet<\/em> is Yesod<\/em>, connecting the Man\u2019ula<\/em> to Mem<\/em>, forming the combination, Mavet<\/em>, since death comes from the Man\u2019ula<\/em>.
