684) It is written, \u201cAnd on your new moons [beginnings of months],\u201d in plural form, which are Jacob and Joseph, ZA<\/em> and Yesod<\/em>, as it is written, \u201cThese are the generations of Jacob Joseph,\u201d who renew the moon, Malchut<\/em>. As the moon, Malchut<\/em>, is purified in the beginning of the month, to approach her husband, ZA<\/em>, one portion of that kind of Sitra Achra<\/em> should be given to the Sitra Achra<\/em>, meaning a he-goat. Likewise, when the woman is purified for her husband, she should give one portion to the Sitra Achra<\/em>, of his own kind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

685) That part which the woman must give to the Sitra Achra<\/em> is the nails with their filth, and a little of the tips of the hair. She must comb her hair, tie them together, and give them to the Sitra Achra<\/em>, and that evil side will not follow her to harm her, and will part from her from all sides. Once she has tied together those hairs and nails she must place them in a place where people do not go, or in low-lying holes in the yard, and hide them there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

686) \u201cAnd on your new moons [beginnings of months].\u201d When they would sanctify the month according to the courthouse, they would burn torches on the tops of the mountains, and would say, \u201cObey this to the letter.\u201d Sometimes the moon was like this: \"Chaf_to_Top\" , when she was looking up with her rays. Sometimes she would look down, like this: \"Chaf_to_Bottom\" . At times she would look to the east, like this: \"Chaf_to_Back_Upside_Down\" , and at times to the west, like this: \"Chaf_to_Front\" . And at times to the south and at times to the north.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is her looking to the six sides, where Tifferet<\/em>, the big Vav<\/em>, includes them, which are Gedula<\/em> [greatness], Gevura<\/em>, Tifferet<\/em>, Netzah<\/em>, Hod<\/em>, Yesod<\/em>. Gedula<\/em>, Hesed<\/em>, is her looking to the south. Her looking to the north is Gevura<\/em>, to the east is Tifferet<\/em>, and to the west is Yesod<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

687) The dot that extends in the moon, Malchut<\/em>, from within, is Hochma<\/em>. The thread that surrounds the moon, is Keter<\/em>. The dot as a whole is Malchut<\/em>, and at times she is the Atara<\/em> to ZA<\/em>, as it is written, \u201cA virtuous woman is her husband\u2019s crown.\u201d At times she is a throne to ZA<\/em>, to sit on, at times a footstool for the feet of ZA<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

688) Malchut<\/em> is called Levana<\/em> [\u201cwhite,\u201d but also \u201cmoon\u201d] after the Libun<\/em> [whitening] of the law, after the Hochma<\/em> of the right that whitens the law, Malchut<\/em>, which is called \u201claw.\u201d The Hochma<\/em> is from within Malchut<\/em>, as it is written, \u201cThe King’s daughter is all glorious within.\u201d She is whitened by the fire of Bina<\/em> that descends upon her, as it is written, \u201cThough your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the reason why she was called ADNI<\/em>, with the letters DINA<\/em> [Dalet<\/em>–Yod<\/em>–Nun<\/em>–Aleph<\/em>], red in Gevura<\/em>, on the left line, where it is Bina<\/em>, she is whitened by Hesed<\/em>, where it is Hochma<\/em>, and returns to the name HaVaYaH<\/em>, mercy. The Hochma<\/em> of the left receives from Bina<\/em>, she receives Hassadim<\/em> from Hochma<\/em> of the right, and she is whitened by both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

689) And what caused Malchut<\/em> to turn from judgment to mercy? The complete righteous. The Klipa<\/em> of the moon, Malchut<\/em> from the side of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, is darkness. She is a black dot, which is the evil inclination, a maidservant. Also, Malchut<\/em> has of her own only that thread which illuminates in her, a thread of Hochma<\/em> of the left without Hassadim<\/em>, which is the heart of her structure. However, its light is as faint as a thread, since it cannot illuminate without Hassadim<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It accompanies her at night in the exile, as it is written, \u201cShe rises while it is still night.\u201d It is removed from her during the day because in the day is the governance of Hassadim de<\/em> ZA<\/em>, and Hochma<\/em> of the left cannot rule during the day. In the day it is the light of Hesed<\/em> of the next world, Bina<\/em>, of which it is written, \u201cBut unto you that fear My name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

690) The moon, Malchut<\/em>, from the side of the tree of life, ZA<\/em>, that point of internality within her, Hochma<\/em> of the right, Hesed<\/em>, is as a never ending fountain because it extends from upper AVI<\/em> through ZA<\/em>, whose Zivug<\/em> never ceases. It is written about her, \u201clike a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.\u201d She is called a \u201cdoe of love\u201d from the side of Hesed<\/em>, love, as it is written, \u201cI have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with affection have I drawn you with grace [Hesed<\/em>].\u201d Thus, love is Hesed<\/em>. She has two rays from the light, like this: \"Chaf_to_Top\" . Sometimes one is higher than the other, like this, \"Chaf_to_Top_Uneven\" , and at times they are equal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rays are illumination of NH<\/em> de<\/em> ZA<\/em>, hence the ray of the right, Netzah<\/em>, is higher than the ray of the left, Hod<\/em>. ZA<\/em> and Malchut<\/em> are NH<\/em>, since they clothe NH<\/em> de<\/em> AA<\/em>. For this reason, when ZA<\/em> and Malchut<\/em> are face-to-face on the same level, NH<\/em> de<\/em> ZA<\/em> are also on the same level, and Netzah<\/em> is not higher than Hod<\/em>.
