76. When Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah [also known as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego] were imprisoned, to drop them into the furnace of the burning fire, Hananiah said, \u201cThe Lord is for me, I shall not fear what man does to me.\u201d Mishael said, \u201c\u2018And you, fear not My servant Jacob, and do not dread, O Israel, for I am with you,\u2019 declares the Lord.\u201d Azariah said, \u201cHear O Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
77. The Creator said, \u201cOne will say, \u2018I am the Lord\u2019s,\u201d this is Hananiah, who said, \u201cThe Lord is for me, I shall not fear. \u201cAnother will call himself by the name of Jacob,\u201d this is Mishael, who said, \u201cAnd you, fear not My servant Jacob.\u201d \u201cAnd name himself by the name of Israel\u201d is Azariah, who said, \u201cHear O Israel.\u201d \u201cJacob shall not now be ashamed, nor shall his face now grow pale.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
78. Why was Daniel not among them? Indeed, Daniel said, \u201cI am called Belshazzar,\u201d like the name of his god, as it is written, \u201cBelteshazzar after the name of my God,\u201d and as it is written, \u201cThen the king Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face, and worshipped Daniel.\u201d And the Creator said, \u201cYou shall burn the statues of their gods with fire.\u201d This is why he went and was not with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
79. What did Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah see that they fell into the fire? They said, \u201cThe frogs dropped themselves into the fire under the commandment of the Creator in order to harm the Egyptians.
