This is why the number of days of the sun [days of the year] is 365 days. Forty-nine weeks of them, 343 days, correspond to the degree of righteous, Yesod, who is called “good.” It is the seventh, since when beginning to count from Bina, Yesod is the seventh Sefira, and Bina is forty-nine gates of Bina. When Yesod, which is the seventy, receives forty-nine gates of Bina, they become in him seven times forty-nine, which are 343.

The sun, which is below, suckles from it seven weeks seven times, which correspond to seven weeks seven times that the Yesod suckles from upper Ima, Bina, who is called Yovel [fiftieth year anniversary/jubilee], corresponding to the years of Yovel below, corresponding to the forty-nine years that the Yovel contains.

199. Twenty-two days are missing for the number 365 days, since forty-nine weeks are 343 days. These correspond to the twenty-two letters of the Torah on which the bottom world, Malchut, stands. The righteous above, Yesod of ZA, is called “the written Torah.” This is why there are twenty-two inclusions in it, which are twenty-two letters from which twenty-two days are extended in order to complete the number 365 days.

After these 365 days are completed, when the year has been completed, the sun that is below returns to receive from the degree called “good,” Yesod of ZA. This degree, and all those seven upper degrees, return to receive from upper Ima, and then the year of the sun of 365 days is extended again, and likewise each and every year.

200. A degree called “moon,” which governs at night, suckles from the degree of the righteous, Yesod. Because the righteous fills it with sublime delicacies and she suckles from it, she is called “moon.” As the moon below has no light of its own except that which is given to it from the sun, so the degree above, Malchut, has nothing of herself except what is given to her from Yesod of ZA.

201. The degree of Malchut above is called “the sea of Hochma.” The twelve upper, holy tribes are standing, and they are the four directions south, north, east, and west, which are three lines and Malchut that receives them. Each direction consists of three lines. It follows that there are three lines to the north, to the south, to the west, and to the east. The sea of Hochma, Malchut, stands over them. Corresponding to them, twelve tribes stand below around the altar, around the Temple, where there is the altar, which implies Malchut. Corresponding to that degree, Solomon made the sea below standing on twelve oxen.

202. The sea above, Malchut, is called “sea” because the degree of righteous, Yesod, which fills that sea, is called “day,” as it is written, “And God called the light ‘day,’” and light is Yesod, as it is written, “Light is sown for the righteous.” The Yesod shines in the Vav in the holy name, ZA, with which it fills that sea, called the bottom Hey of the holy name.

Therefore, Yesod is called “day” since it contains the Vav, the giver, and the sea that receives from it, as it is written, “For all that is in heaven and in earth.” Yesod, which is called “all,” grips the heaven with Vav, ZA, and grips the earth, Malchut, the sea. Malchut acquired the name “sea” from Yesod, meaning from the sea of the day, indicating the Malchut that grips it.

203. It is written, “All the streams go to the sea.” “All” is the degree of righteous, Yesod, since all the delicacies emerge from it. The streams are five degrees, HGT NH of ZA that walk along with Yesod to the sea, Malchut, to fill it.

204. This degree, Malchut, is called Bat Sheva [having seven] because she receives from Yesod, who is called “seventh.” When the righteous shines to Malchut in seven weeks seven times, amounting to 343, the bottom sun shines to the moon seven weeks seven times.

205. For this reason, the year of the moon is 355 days, forty-nine weeks of them, which are 343 days, corresponding to the seventh degree, Malchut, who is called Bat Sheva. She is the upper sea that shines from the righteous, Yesod, in forty-nine weeks, which are upper lights, forty-nine gates of Bina, in each of the seven degrees from Bina to Yesod.

Twelve days remain missing for the number 355. These correspond to the twelve tribes around the sea, to guard the watch of the tabernacle with the twelve upper gates that there are in the upper Jerusalem, Malchut, which is four directions with three lines in each direction. Through these twelve gates, the lower tribes suckle from the bottom Ima, Malchut, each from its own phase, as it should be.

206. This is why it is written, “Anyone who is called by My name, and whom I have created for My glory, I have formed him, and I also made him.” “Anyone who is called by My name” is a person on the degree of the righteous, Yesod, called “All” [in Hebrew: the same as anyone], shining by the power of His name. “And whom I have created for My glory,” meaning I created him in order to shine to the place called “glory,” the sea of Hochma, Malchut, who is called “the glory of the Lord,” which was revealed in the tabernacle.

“I have formed him” is the day below. When Yesod, Vav, shines to Malchut, the sea, Yesod is called “day.” Similarly, one who merits the degree of righteous is called “day” below, corresponding the “all” of above. It is written about that, “who forms the light.” Forming is not written about the righteous of above until his operation is revealed below through the lower one, which shines in Malchut in the day, and the bottom world, Malchut, shines from him. Then it is written, “I have formed him.”

204. “And I also made him” is the moon, Malchut, who is completed by the man below, as it is written, “and creator of darkness,” since prior to the coupling with ZA, Malchut is darkness. When ZA connects with Malchut, it is written, “who makes peace,” who makes peace for the world, as it is written, “And there was evening, and there was morning, one day.” Evening is Malchut, and morning is Yesod. When they make a coupling, the two of them are one day, and then the unification of above and the unification of below are completed, and peace is made above and peace below.

208. Similarly, Joseph below grips the righteous above, Yesod of ZA. When Joseph below is completed, he adds peace in all the worlds and in all the upper days. At that time, the upper days, Yesod and Malchut, are in peace, in one unification, and the blessings are bestowed upon all the worlds.

197.
