An explanation of where suffering comes from and what its spiritual root is.
Moderator: There is a great deal of suffering in this world.
True, there’s a lot of suffering. But this suffering comes in order to create a need inside of us, to realize its cause and its purpose. It’s much like a child that’s being punished so that it will understand that it needs to do something. Unfortunately, we’re the ones who are causing the suffering.
This means that as much as we’ve been able to rise up to a much higher social and moral level—a higher standard of relationships between each other. If we had been correcting ourselves, making our moral evolution match of material evolution, we would then feel absolutely comfortable in this world, just as in the spiritual world.
