Kabbalah and Philosophy

Lesson 5

Forces that are above matter

  • The worlds of Asiya, Yetzira, Beria, Atzilut
  • AHP de Aliya - 'the revival of the dead'
  • What are the real "Torah and precepts'?
  • Traditions
  • Development out of sensation

"And according to this you will distinguish here four degrees of love. The instance" of the gift "is called the world of Asiya. The multitude of the gifts is called the world of Yetzira". These are states man feels towards the Creator. "And the revelation of the love itself is called Beria." The world of Beria.

"And here" in the world of Beria, "begins the study of the formative wisdom of Kabbalah, because at this level the love has been abstracted from the gifts." We elevate above the gifts, "which is the secret: "and creator of darkness", meaning, that he banishes the light from creation. This means that we do not need the fillings inside, I do not want Him to give me gifts, I do not want to feel the gifts, I want to be above them, to only sense the relationship between us. This is called "creator of darkness", I acquire in this the power of creation, the power of Bina, delighting in mercy. So I do not need any filling in addition to that, even if nothing is revealed in the vessel, It is enough for me that He exists and I feel love towards Him. What He gives me is not important to me. As it is with children: we love them, and that fills us in itself. How they actually love us, we don't ask. "And the love remains without its gifts. And later Atzilut, since after it tasted and abstracted the form off the matter entirely, in the secret of: "and creator of darkness", Once I have acquired all of the possible love without any connection to the gifts (meaning that I have distanced from the world of Yetzira as from the gifts, and connected to the world of Beria, to the final size and manners of the love, as much as possible), then I enter another level of relations between us, called the world of Atzilut. What does it mean? "It is worthy to elevate to the level of Atzilut, since there the form returns and clothes in matter. Meaning, light and love together." Then there is what we call "AHP de Aliya" or the revival of the dead. Again the matter, the gifts, and all of the previous relations return, and connect to the love in order to strengthen it. This is so that I would have a possibility to give Him, not only the relation but also the reception of those gifts that He gave me. This is called the "world of Atzilut". In the world of Beria we are in a vessel of in order to bestow and when we elevate to the world of Atzilut we work in a vessel of receiving in order to bestow - we draw our vessels, our matter, and desire to receive, and work with it.

At what stage and in what manner do the precepts fit in here?

I would say that from the first moment a person becomes involved in correction, it is considered that he is performing a precept.

How can I merit the world of Asiya if I don't draw upon myself surrounding light that builds a vessel in me in which I can sense that I receive some relation from the Creator (called a gift)? To feel that I get something from Him I must have a vessel of reception, I have not received it by mail from some friend; I have received it from the Creator.

This vessel has to be similar to the Creator in some attribute, other wise I would not feel that it comes specifically from Him, but I would say that it comes from nature. What do you want from me? That is what I feel like.

I have to build a vessel which would be similar to Him. In this vessel I will feel the gift. In order to build a vessel similar to the nature of the Creator I have to draw light from above: surrounding light that brings correction. "I have created the evil inclination; I have created the Torah as spice". I must use it. It comes through the study. During the study we draw the lights that correct us. The same light that I use (the Upper light) for my correction is called "Torah" - "The light that is in it corrects him". The correction of desires to simulate the Creator is called "precept". That is why as soon as I want to reach a connection with the Creator I am involved in Torah and Precepts.

Does the intention improve with time?

The intention improves constantly, the relation improves constantly, and this is the entire inner work. That is why this wisdom is called "inner" wisdom. It is not related to some book of Torah I have, or some scroll with letters in scripted on it, this is not the Torah. The Torah is the "light that brings correction". Precepts are also not related to putting some boxes on the head or hand, this is not the intention in precepts. These are called traditions, and it is recommended to follow them in order to be within some limits, not to escape until we reach the real spiritual existence. Yet it is not through these actions, and customs that we correct anything, but only through the upper force.

A spiritual vessel is built through the effect of the surrounding light on the point in the heart. The point in the heart is a broken vessel of Bina "in order to receive". When the surrounding light comes, gradually the vessel transforms to "in order to bestow" and then begins to sense the gifts.

You said that the wisdom of Kabbalah is inner wisdom

The Kabbalah is inner wisdom; a wisdom that man implements on himself with his own powers- spirituality is a force without matter. Force without matter means that you don't need to act with your hands and legs; you need to work with the force. Then it is considered that you are in spirituality, working with spiritual forces, and you are in the wisdom of Kabbalah. There is no connection to what you do with your hands and legs, that's why it is called "inner".

I spoke a lot about our five senses, how they work, how they later on unite into our pleasure center, how along with that our brain is constructed, and our intellect. The intellect is constructed according to the extent to which we want to fill ourselves, only according to that the intellect develops.

Is Force faith?

Force is faith. What is faith? Faith is called "power of bestowal". It means that if I have an ability to do something really against my desire (to give to another without any calculation of what I will get in return), it is called that I have the power of faith or the power of bestowal. The force of Bina - this is spirituality. Whoever has that already perceives the upper world. To bestow in order to bestow is the world of Beria, it is not the faith that we speak about in this world, "I have complete faith", as they shout on the street.

It turns out according to the third paragraph that he writes, "And thus you will discern levels of the love" Asiya, Yetzira, Beria. That in order to sense the gifts it is necessary to know well the evolvement of the worlds.

In order to sense all that we sense, it is not necessary to know anything, it is necessary to feel. It is true that we need to study a lot and to act in certain ways, but actually even a person who doesn't know can feel.

So we don't have to be aware of it?

If you will be aware, then what? What will you get out of knowing? First is the world of Asiya, then Yetzira, then Beria! What do you get from knowing the names?

The question is whether the development is not by combining the two things

Combining what? Development is in the feeling. No, we are not supposed to know anything, we are supposed to feel. Out of the feeling we build the perceptions. The connection between the perceptions and the assessment of the perceptions, builds the knowledge and the wisdom of Kabbalah. First I must feel. How do I study this world? If Newton wouldn't have had an apple fall on his head would he still have discovered gravity? That is how I begin to study nature: I put my hand in the fire - oops, it is hot, then cold, then something else, that is how I gradually study nature.
Out of the multitude of sensations and out of seeing the relation between them, I begin to link them to some rules. They might not be the right rules, but for the time being, where I exist they are true. Like Newton's mechanics compared with Einstein's mechanics, they are true, but so what- it is out of the sensation.
