A Sage’s Fruit, Part 1

She has nothing of her own except that which others give her. Malchut, called “will to receive,” is forbidden to receive for herself, meaning into her own quality, due to the Tzimtzum [restriction]. By not wanting to receive, to extend into her own quality, she receives from others what they bestow upon her.

This is as it is written, “In return for ‘And Moses hid his face for he was afraid to look,’ he was rewarded with ‘The image of the Lord does he behold’” (Berachot 7a). In other words, specifically by not wanting to receive into his own quality and wanting to go above reason, he was rewarded with the Daat [reason/knowledge] of Kedusha [holiness], and from this comes all the proliferation. However, if he wants to receive into his own quality, this is called “Another God is sterile and does not bear fruit.”
