597. A Generation Goes and a Generation Comes and the Earth Forever Stands

“The earth forever stands.” Earth means “dust,” regarded as “still,” motionless. This is called “faith above reason,” when there is no rhyme or reason. To the body, this tastes like dust.

But when a person takes upon himself this work, he has no descent. Rather, he always remains standing, as it is written, “The earth forever stands,” meaning she has no falling.

“A generation goes and a generation comes” means ups and downs. “The earth” means the still. “Forever stands” means that in the earth there is no falling because there is nothing lower than the earth.
