539. Questions about “Return O Israel”

“Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God, for you have failed in your iniquity. Take with you words and return to the Lord.”

1) What is “to the Lord”?

2) “You have failed in your iniquity.” What is the obstacle that the iniquity caused, since the iniquity itself is the obstacle?

3) What is “Take with you words and return to the Lord”? What are these words, for it implies that he should take with him excuses so he will have a way to excuse himself before the Creator, but are there excuses before the Creator?
