708. The Prayer of the Righteous

“The Creator craves the prayer of the righteous.” A prayer is specifically where there is a lack, since one who prays discovers that he has a lack. The lack is the Kli [vessel] that can hold the abundance within it, so as not to lose what he is given, since according to the importance that one feels from the matter, to that extent he tries to keep the present.

This is the meaning of “Who is a fool? He who loses what he is given” because he does not value the gift. It is written, “Better a wise and poor child than an old and foolish king who no longer knows how to be careful.” Hence, the prayer and the yearning fashion the importance for him. For this reason, the Creator craves the prayer of the righteous.
