482. This Is the Path of Torah – 2

June 8, 1955

“This is the path of Torah: Lead a sorrowful life,” etc.

This is so because when one works for the sake of the Creator, the body derives no pleasure because it is not receiving anything. However, when one is accustomed to work in a manner of bestowal, one is later rewarded with “Then will you delight in the Lord.” In other words, when we work for the sake of the Creator, we receive pleasure. This is called “Her ways are ways of pleasantness.”
