637. Four States in the Work
Beauty: This pertains specifically to the seeing of the eyes, which is the quality of Hochma [wisdom].
Wealth: This means “left” [side], as it is written, “and wealth to her left.”
Attributing: This means ZA, which is not regarded as an entity but is attributed to “right” and “left.”
Ugly, etc., as long as you crown me with gold: According to the RASHI interpretation, after the marriage, meaning Malchut, where reception is forbidden, there is concealment on this place. Hence, it is an ugly thing, for we do not see any merit there, for anything that is there does not belong to her authority and we can receive it only in the quality of faith.
This is called “for the sake of the Creator,” since we do not see any merit there that will make it worthwhile to bond with her. But after the acceptance of faith, we must extend all the degrees to her.
