816. Observed and Received

The children of Seir and the children of Paran did not receive the Torah. The advice of “We will do and we will hear” means that through doing they will come to hearing, meaning that the body will agree. The matter of coercion means that through the pleasure, they did not have any other choice and they could feel the pleasure by accepting the doing. But the nations of the world, who did not have this qualification of doing, could not feel the flavor of Torah and Mitzvot [commandments].

Concerning the great protest against the Torah, meaning that it was by coercion and swallowing, when one does not feel the pleasure, they have a choice to revert. But “observed and received” means by choice, namely that it is out of unconditional love.
