Advice in the daily Kabbalah lesson is recommended, practical tasks for advancing spiritually

To Be Drawn To Good Things

What is the correct attitude to the negativity, criticism, and confusion that unfold on the way to spirituality?

From the moment we discover "the Point in the Heart," we need to be drawn only to good things; we need to increase the importance of the spiritual goal and not get involved in the bad things that take place around us. We do not need to experience different approaches to spirituality in order to prove to ourselves that they are wrong. Do not worry, to the extent that we are drawn to the ultimate goal, each one of us will experience confusions, setbacks, and disappointments, and then will reemerge from these and will continue on the path.

You are not commanded to experience bad things, to fail or get confused. But what happens if you transgress on the way? Nothing, as long as you stick to the ultimate goal.  The discovery of the "left line," the criticism and negativity, take place only after you acquire the "right line," namely, the importance of the spiritual goal.

Daily Kabbalah Quote

Have Sinned Before Me Always

(Psalms Chapter 51)

On the one hand, the Creator wants you to receive, to receive for yourself or in order to bestow, it does not matter, but He wants you to receive everything prepared for you!  On the other hand, the fact that you have not yet reached final correction is called a "sin." The fact that you're sitting as righteous while receiving only one small cracker from all the great feast that He has prepared for you, from all the thousands of deserts and beautiful dishes, is a sin!

The sin is not that I discover that all I want is to receive egoistically.  This is obvious since the Creator prepared it for my pleasure. But the limitation we place on ourselves is the painful "compromise" (both for the Creator and the created) that the created cannot receive all the abundance created for him.  That pain must remain, as it is written: "And I sinned before me always." I should not be proud that "I limited myself in order to bestow;" on the contrary, I should be pained by it. I would have wanted to receive everything in order to bestow but I am unable to.  I should not even expect it until I can request it properly.

Daily Kabbalah Reality Check

Examples in the daily Kabbalah lesson elucidate spiritual concepts through explanations of situations in this world

The Communication System Between Us And The Upper World

What is the difference between the various methods developed by humanity as a result of researching nature and the wisdom of Kabbalah, and what is it that we need to do in order to influence the Upper Forces and change our destiny for the best?

As humanity developed, it discovered forces in nature, investigated their actions, learned how to exploit them and created doctrines-systems of laws and connections between these forces and man.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is also a doctrine of communication, only of a higher level, a means of connection between the human in this world and the human in the Upper World. This is a method describing the entire variety of forces that operate in the upper level of nature which is now concealed from us. Only, as opposed to the other doctrines known in our world,  by examining nature in depth and discovering its Upper Laws and the mechanism that operates them, we will discover that the connection between the Upper Forces in nature and their effects upon us is hidden from us. It is just impossible to reveal it out of our own research-and this is why the wisdom of Kabbalah is called the "cryptic wisdom."

The spiritual mechanism is standing in front of us like a black box whose internal laws, actions to be taken, and the way that this system effects us-are not known to us. How, in that case, could we enter the right input into the upper system in order to activate it on us?

The Kabbalists, those same people who attained this upper system of laws, provide "etzot" (advices), meaning they tell us which actions we need to take and in what conditions we can activate the  laws of the upper system that control reality in general.

In order to achieve that, there is no need for an intellectual examination of reality, but a true will to change and to resemble that system, which consists of laws of bestowal and love. Instead of wanting to change the system, a person should want to change himself or to resemble it, to be better familiar with the harmony which exists in nature. When a person does that, he discovers a new quality of bestowal inside him, a quality of love and giving to the other, and can feel how the laws of nature are connected to that one harmonious perfect mechanism that changes our destiny for the best.

Daily Kabbalah Question

Q & A segments in the daily Kabbalah lesson provide a deeper exploration of the lesson’s topics

Question from a Student: What is the source of violence between brothers, and between people in general, and what should our attitude towards it be?

Dr. Latiman's Answer: Hatred is the most natural thing for man. Did you ever see brothers in a family that get along? We only say that we are "like brothers." Approach a family with many children and ask them how their children get along-each one is ready to crush the other, ego is ego.

Therefore, as long as we are governed by ego, it won't work. But if we understand that we came from one source, and that source is important to us-only then will we feel like brothers, as one, like the source.

The only way to accomplish this is by correction from the side of the Upper. Only when the Upper governs us, and connects between us, will we feel like brothers, and until we reach that, we will continue to hate each other. We are called brothers only in relation to the Upper Source-He is who gave birth to us, and only He can hold the connection between us.
